A star is born

Austrian Academy of Sciences - School lecture and visit of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Roland Wester

On Jan 27th ISK students of all classes had the pleasure to meet university professor Dr. Roland Wester. He is an internationally acclaimed scientist who has already engaged in teaching and research at the universities of Heidelberg, Freiburg as well as Berkeley, California. Since 2010 he is situated at the university of Innsbruck where he does highly interesting research in the department of Ion and Applied Physics.

At ISK, Dr. Wester gave a one-hour lecture with the title “A star is born” – focusing on the transition of dense molecular clouds into stars. Afterwards, our students had the opportunity to ask question about the science, and about life and work as a scientist. It was a pleasure to see how many of our students engaged in the discussion and asked relevant questions.
