International School Kufstein Tirol as Catholic private school on the campus of the University of Applied Sciences
Bishop and trust members sign cooperation
KUFSTEIN / SALZBURG (30 July 2014): “It is a big opportunity to connect a renowned University with an International School. Religion and religious education belong to the nature of the human being and are part of the main goals of the Catholic Church,“ emphasized the bishop when signing the contract in Salzburg between the diocese and the private trust of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein. The delegation, consisting of the trust members and the organising team, was lead by the chairman of the board of trustees, Dr. Siegfried Dillersberger. This meeting laid the groundwork for the foundation of the first Catholic private school in the Tyrolean part of the diocese of Salzburg. Nonetheless, the new International School Kufstein (ISK) is naturally open for students of all confessions and worldviews. About this issue the bishop uttered his opinion in the following way: “Nowadays the church needs to build relationships with different groups in society.“ The new school is going to be of special importance for the Eastern part of the Tyrol (the Tyrolean Unterland) and the neighboring country to the North, the free state of Bavaria. The language of instruction is going to be English.
The educational content taught at ISK Tirol is based on the curriculum of an Austrian Oberstufenrealgymnasium and the requirements for the International Diploma from the Den Haag-based “International Baccalaureate Organization“. The school year at ISK Tirol is going to start in the facilities of the school inside the campus of the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein in September 2015.
