Good news from the International School Kufstein Tirol: the school was awarded the "Gesunde Schule Tirol" (Healthy School Tirol) seal of quality on 23 September 2026. The award ceremony took place at an event held by the State of Tyrol at the Landhaus and recognises the school's holistic commitment to health promotion in everyday school life. The member of the Regional Government, Cornelia Hagele, along with other representatives of the project partners, offered their congratulations in person.
The seal of quality is a joint initiative of the State of Tyrol, the Tyrolean Education Directorate, the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK), the BVAEB, and the University College of Teacher Education Tyrol (PH Tirol). It is awarded for a period of three school years and confirms that a school has sustainably embedded topics such as physical activity, healthy nutrition, psychosocial health, and prevention work into its daily school life.
Award Reflects School Motto "Excellent, Healthy, Happy"
For the International School Kufstein, the award ties directly into the school's motto, "Excellent, Healthy, Happy." The school holds that academic excellence and student success are inseparable from the wellbeing of its students.
The school's Healthy School Leadership Team, which spent the past eighteen months preparing the application through kick-off events, a two-day foundational seminar, and a dedicated goals-and-measures workshop, commented on the award as follows:
"This seal of quality means far more to us than external recognition — it confirms that 'Healthy' and 'Happy' carry just as much weight in our everyday school life as 'Excellent'. From the outset, we placed real value on ensuring that physical activity, good nutrition, and mental wellbeing are understood not as an add-on programme, but as an integral part of school life. This award motivates us to continue this path with our entire school community."
Part of a Statewide Initiative
A total of 28 Tyrolean schools received the seal of quality this year, and 104 schools across Tyrol now hold the distinction since the programme's launch. The International School Kufstein Tirol is among nine schools receiving the award for the first time this year.
